Mechanical Design Engineer

Role overview

Design and coordination

• Design and coordinate building services including HVAC, ventilation, chilled water, smoke management, electrical systems, plumbing, drainage, water supply, fire protection, and ELV interfaces.
• Coordinate lagoon and water-feature circulation, filtration, pumping, treatment, dosing, piping, equipment, and plant rooms.
• Prepare and review drawings, calculations, specifications, schematics, equipment schedules, and technical reports.
• Integrate MEP with architectural, structural, civil, landscape, interior, and specialist systems; coordinate BIM/Revit models and resolve clashes.
• Review plant rooms, shafts, risers, service spaces, access, and maintenance requirements.

Project delivery and construction support

• Coordinate with project stakeholders and support technical submissions, authority approvals, RFIs, design clarifications, and site issue resolution.
• Review contractor drawings, material submittals, technical proposals, equipment selections, method statements, and calculations.
• Support site inspections and construction coordination; evaluate design changes, variations, and value-engineering proposals.
• Maintain quality control, document and revision management, deliverable schedules, and compliant, constructible, maintainable designs.

Qualifications and experience

• University degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Drafting.
• Minimum 2–4 years of relevant MEP design experience; experience in high-rise, residential, hospitality, mixed-use, or large-scale developments is preferred.
• Experience in MEP design, engineering calculations, multidisciplinary coordination, and design review.
• Knowledge of applicable international standards, local authority regulations, building codes, and project specifications.

Software and regional knowledge

• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, Trimble SketchUp, Graphisoft ArchiCAD, and MS Office.
• Knowledge of relevant MEP calculation/design software is preferred.
• UAE/GCC project experience and knowledge of local authority requirements are advantageous.

Compensation

• Pay starts at AED 6,000 per month.
