Electrical Design Engineer

Role overview

Design and coordination

• Develop, review, and coordinate electrical designs, calculations, drawings, specifications, schematics, load schedules, and technical reports.
• Design LV/MV distribution, transformers, generators, substations, switchgear, distribution boards, cables, and electrical equipment; prepare load, voltage-drop, short-circuit, cable-sizing, and demand calculations.
• Design lighting, emergency and external lighting, landscape lighting, lighting controls, earthing, bonding, lightning and surge protection, and electrical safety systems.
• Coordinate electrical requirements for HVAC, pumps, water treatment, lagoons, pools, water features, and other MEP equipment.
• Coordinate electrical systems with architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, civil, landscape, ELV, fire, and specialist systems; review plant rooms, shafts, risers, cable routes, and service spaces.
• Develop and review BIM/Revit electrical models, participate in clash detection, and resolve multidisciplinary coordination issues.
• Review contractor shop drawings, material submittals, technical proposals, equipment selections, calculations, and method statements.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, authorities, contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist vendors; support authority submissions and approvals.
• Respond to RFIs and technical queries, resolve site issues, identify design and constructability risks, and assess design changes and value-engineering proposals.
• Provide construction support through inspections and coordination meetings; maintain design quality, document control, revision management, and project schedules.
• Incorporate energy-efficient, sustainable, reliable, maintainable, and cost-effective solutions and comply with health, safety, fire, environmental, and statutory requirements.

Requirements and qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and 2–4 years of relevant electrical design experience.
• High-rise, residential, hospitality, mixed-use, or large-development experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of IEC/BS standards, local authority regulations, utility requirements, and project specifications.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, and MS Office; electrical design/calculation software knowledge is preferred.
• Experience in BIM coordination, clash detection, shop drawing review, multidisciplinary coordination, and stakeholder coordination.
• UAE/GCC experience and knowledge of local authority requirements are advantageous.

Workplace and schedule

• Full-time, in-person work in Dubai.
• Immediate joining is requested.

Compensation

• Pay starts at AED 6,000 per month.
