Irrigation Engineer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design drip, sprinkler, misting, and other irrigation systems; prepare layouts, hydraulic calculations, equipment schedules, bills of quantities, and technical specifications.
• Review drawings, shop drawings, material submittals, and technical documents; select suitable irrigation equipment.
• Conduct site inspections and surveys; supervise installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance.
• Monitor contractors and subcontractors for compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and schedules.
• Coordinate irrigation work with landscaping, civil, electrical, MEP, and other project teams.
• Troubleshoot failures, pressure issues, leaks, blockages, and control-system problems; develop preventive and corrective maintenance plans.
• Optimize water use through efficient design, scheduling, automation, and water-management practices.
• Program controllers and automated systems; inspect completed work and prepare snag lists, inspection reports, and completion documents.
• Maintain irrigation asset, maintenance, water consumption, and system performance records.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and engineering standards; advise management on system improvements and upgrades.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Irrigation and at least 3 years of landscape irrigation and maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of irrigation networks, pumps, filters, controllers, and tanks; troubleshooting skills for pressure, flow, and control-system issues.
• Ability to read irrigation layouts, as-built drawings, and technical specifications; knowledge of AutoCAD and irrigation scheduling.
• Ability to supervise and coordinate irrigation teams; knowledge of relevant local regulations and technical standards.
• Use system design and scheduling tools such as AutoCAD, GIS, and irrigation controllers.
• Team player able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Pay

• Pay starts at AED 5,000 per month.
