Workplace
- The role is based in person at Cozey’s Montreal head office.
Responsibilities
- Solve engineering problems with designers from early concept through production readiness.
- Develop reusable platform innovations, including assembly systems, connection mechanisms, and cover attachment solutions.
- Simplify platforms by reducing parts, improving tolerances, making assembly intuitive, and lowering cost without harming customer experience.
- Improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize products for transportation and logistics.
- Engineer compact packaging that meets strict weight and dimensional limits.
- Work on foam and fill specifications, cover fabrics, and structural components; diagnose performance issues and develop fixes.
- Support the design team in resolving technical problems with factories; supplier relationships and sourcing decisions are not owned by this role.
- Use customer feedback, complaints, returns data, and reviews to drive product improvements.
Requirements
- 5–8+ years in product, mechanical, or industrial engineering; consumer products, consumer electronics, soft goods, or similar experience is ideal.
- Furniture experience is a plus but not required.
- Strong fundamentals in mechanical design, materials, tolerances, and design for manufacturability.
- Experience designing scalable systems or platforms across a product line.
- Comfort with CAD such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360, or similar, and building and testing physical prototypes.
- Collaborative approach and ability to balance design appeal with scalable function.
- Comfort working across varied problems in a fast-moving environment.
- Strong communication skills, including explaining engineering tradeoffs to non-engineers.
