Platform management and operations

  • Oversee ETL/ELT pipeline design and scaling for structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data.
  • Manage data transformation layers in the data lake or warehouse for clean, performant downstream data.
  • Own platform integrity, availability, reliability, and performance; manage cloud footprint, costs, incidents, and escalations.
  • Improve onboarding speed, time-to-insight, operating cost, data quality, and trust.

Governance, security, and compliance

  • Define and enforce enterprise data governance and security controls, including access controls, masking, and encryption.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including GDPR, PIPEDA, Law 25, SOC 2, and PCI-DSS.
  • Establish data-quality monitoring, alerting, lineage mapping, and retention and deletion policies.

Strategy and leadership

  • Define the enterprise data platform roadmap and align data strategy with business transformation initiatives such as CRM, CDP, and reservation systems.
  • Promote platform adoption and data literacy across business units.
  • Lead and develop data specialists, semantic modelers, and platform and operations staff; manage vendor and systems-integrator resources.
  • Set SLAs for data availability and freshness and prioritize business data and analytics use cases.
  • Identify data opportunities to improve revenue optimization, customer insights, and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, data science, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of data platform or analytics experience and 5 years of leadership experience managing teams and delivery.
  • Proven implementation experience with data lake, lakehouse, or data warehouse architectures.
  • Experience with privacy law, data security, governance, and compliance concepts, including GDPR, Canadian privacy law, PCI-DSS, and PII.
  • Ability to operate in a lean IT organization with partner-led delivery; strong stakeholder influence, business-technical communication, ownership, problem-solving, and mentorship.
  • Knowledge of agility principles; bilingual French and English proficiency, spoken and written.

Preferred qualification

  • Microsoft Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect or Azure Data Engineer, or equivalent, are preferred.

Workplace

  • Hybrid work model: four office days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and one chosen day) and one day working from home.

Employment and benefits context

  • The position is permanent. The posting notes that listed benefits apply to permanent, full-time employees.
