Hourly remote contractor role as a Malayalam Language Specialist (SME) with SME Careers.
Review AI-generated Malayalam content and/or create high-quality Malayalam reference content to improve AI language output.
Key responsibilities
- Create prompts and gold-standard Malayalam answers across general knowledge, customer support, education, and conversational writing.
- Evaluate and rank AI outputs for fluency, correctness, tone match, and cultural appropriateness.
- Detect unsafe or misleading content, factual hallucinations, bias, and policy-risk language; validate reliability across use cases.
- Assess accuracy, fluency, grammar, spelling, tone, cultural appropriateness, and prompt adherence; identify meaning, translation, register, ambiguity, and logic issues.
- Fact-check claims, write high-quality rewrites and model answers, and rate or compare AI responses.
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Linguistics, Malayalam/English Literature, Communications, Journalism, Translation, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Native or near-native Malayalam reading and writing proficiency; professional English proficiency at C1 or higher.
- At least 3 years of relevant language-focused professional experience in writing, editing, localization, translation, content QA, journalism, education, or related work.
- Strong command of Malayalam grammar, spelling, punctuation, and style; able to explain and correct errors.
- Comfortable with formal and informal registers, dialect variation across Kerala, and adapting for India and diaspora audiences.
- High attention to detail and ability to work independently across time zones in an hourly remote contractor workflow.
- AI data training or annotation, translation QA, editorial QA, or rubric-based evaluation experience is strongly preferred.
