Leads post-contract commercial work for larger-value projects.
Manages and develops the junior commercial team.
Commercial responsibilities
- Assess tender BOQs against IFC information and update them accordingly.
- Obtain and adjudicate final supply-chain offers; prepare subcontract and purchase orders with drawings, programmes, and BOQs.
- Identify, prepare, negotiate, and conclude variations and claims with project teams, subcontractors, clients, and the employer.
- Prepare monthly project valuations for timely employer submission and issue subcontractor payment certificates based on site progress.
- Arrange project insurances and bonds; draft contractual notices and maintain records for delay and extension-of-time claims.
- Prepare monthly cost reports and budget forecasts with the project manager.
- Conclude subcontract and employer final accounts and manage defects-period commercial matters, including rectification, bond returns, and final retention releases.
- Assist with estimates when the estimation department is at capacity.
People management
- Guide and motivate subordinates, support quality work, and develop team members for higher-level roles.
Education and experience
- Graduate in a construction discipline or equivalent.
- 7–10 years of relevant experience, including at least 7 years in post-contract quantity surveying.
Additional knowledge
- Local market knowledge is advantageous.
