Lead façade designer role in Qatar, developing aluminium and façade systems from concept through fabrication and site execution.
The role coordinates design with project, engineering, production, and site teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead façade and aluminium system design and technical development.
- Prepare and review shop, fabrication, and assembly drawings and installation details.
- Develop drawings for curtain walls, unitized and stick systems, aluminium façades, doors, windows, glazing, and cladding.
- Review architectural and structural drawings, identify requirements and conflicts, and incorporate approved changes and comments.
- Coordinate with architects, consultants, engineers, project managers, production, estimation, procurement, and site teams.
- Ensure design compliance with project specifications, approved materials, and relevant standards.
- Produce details, sections, elevations, and connection details for fabrication and installation.
- Resolve technical issues during fabrication and installation; review drawings before submission or production release.
- Monitor deliverables against schedules, support junior designers, and maintain drawing, revision, approval, and technical records.
Requirements
- Diploma or bachelor’s degree in architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
- 8–12+ years of relevant façade, aluminium, glazing, or architectural systems design experience.
- Strong experience with façade shop drawings and fabrication drawings.
- Advanced AutoCAD knowledge is mandatory.
- Ability to interpret architectural, structural, and engineering drawings and understand fabrication and site installation requirements.
- Ability to lead a design team, manage multiple deliverables, coordinate effectively, solve problems, communicate well, and meet deadlines.
Technical experience
- Knowledge of curtain wall, unitized and stick façade, aluminium cladding, structural glazing, aluminium doors and windows, glazing, architectural metalwork, and building envelope systems.
- Revit, SolidWorks, Inventor, or other façade design software is advantageous.
- Qatar or GCC experience is highly preferred; candidates currently based in Qatar or the GCC are preferred.
- Large-scale commercial, residential, hospitality, airport, infrastructure, or mixed-use project experience is advantageous.
Work location
- Work location is in person in Qatar.
