Lead Business System Analyst

Role overview

Core responsibilities

• Translate and validate complex business rules with stakeholders and align definitions, logic, and expected outcomes.
• Curate feature-specific test data for business logic, workflows, and functional and regression testing.
• Generate synthetic, anonymized, or masked test data that covers edge cases, compliance scenarios, and performance requirements.
• Understand upstream applications and data, coordinate with application teams and architects, and document data flows.
• Apply data masking to protect sensitive information in non-production environments.
• Design and evaluate system solutions, assess existing systems, recommend improvements or replacements, and prepare diagrams and technical specifications.
• Identify inefficiencies in existing systems, including legacy core-banking platforms.
• Analyze value streams to identify bottlenecks and automation or data-driven improvement opportunities.
• Interact frequently with RBC partners and employees across Canada and worldwide.

Must-have qualifications

• Strong knowledge of equities, options, mutual funds, foreign exchange, and fixed-income financial products.
• Strong financial-services business analysis experience, including data and root-cause analysis of business and system issues.
• Ability to document business processes, functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Git version control.
• Ability to identify, evaluate, and implement AI opportunities in business analysis, requirements, data analysis, testing, and operations.
• Familiarity with REST/SOAP APIs for data exchange between systems.
• Advanced SQL proficiency for extracting, transforming, and analyzing relational data.

Preferred qualifications

• CBAP or PMI-PBA certification is preferred.
• A Master's Certificate in Business Analysis is preferred.
