Role overview

Bridges business needs and IT solutions by analyzing systems, documenting user stories, identifying inefficiencies, and recommending technology improvements.

Works across business units, software engineering, and quality analysis; banking systems, data flows, and associated risks are an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Validate business rules with stakeholders and align definitions, logic, and expected outcomes.
  • Curate feature-specific test data for business logic, workflows, and functional and regression testing across system modules.
  • Create synthetic, anonymized, or masked test data covering edge cases, compliance scenarios, and performance requirements.
  • Document upstream application data flows with application teams and architects; implement masking for sensitive non-production data.
  • Evaluate and design system solutions, assess existing platforms, recommend improvements or replacements, and create diagrams and technical specifications.
  • Identify legacy system inefficiencies and use value stream analysis to find bottlenecks and automation or data-driven improvement opportunities.
  • Communicate with RBC partners and employees across Canada and worldwide.

Must-have qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of equities, options, mutual funds, foreign exchange, and fixed-income products.
  • Strong financial-services business analysis experience, including data and root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to document business processes, functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
  • Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Git version control.
  • Ability to identify and implement AI opportunities in analysis, requirements, data analysis, testing, and operations.
  • Familiarity with REST/SOAP APIs and advanced SQL proficiency for relational data extraction, transformation, and analysis.

Preferred qualifications

  • CBAP or PMI-PBA certification is preferred.
  • A Master's Certificate in Business Analysis is preferred.

What RBC offers

  • Total Rewards Program with bonuses, flexible benefits, compensation, commissions, and stock where applicable.
  • Coaching and development opportunities, collaborative work, training, and flexible work/life balance options.

Schedule

  • Work hours are 37.5 per week.
