Lead Business System Analyst

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Translate and validate complex business rules with stakeholders, aligning definitions, logic, and expected outcomes.
• Curate feature-specific test data for business logic, workflows, and use cases to enable functional and regression testing across system modules.
• Design synthetic, anonymized, or masked test data covering edge cases, compliance scenarios, and performance needs.
• Understand upstream applications and their data and document data flows with application teams and architects.
• Mask sensitive data in non-production environments.
• Evaluate and design system solutions, assess existing systems, recommend improvements or replacements, and prepare system diagrams and technical specifications.
• Identify inefficiencies in legacy and other systems and recommend improvements.
• Analyze value streams to find bottlenecks and automation or data-driven improvement opportunities.
• Interact with RBC partners and employees across Canada and worldwide.

Must-have qualifications

• Strong knowledge of equities, options, mutual funds, foreign exchange, and fixed-income products.
• Strong financial-services business analysis experience, including data and root-cause analysis of business and system issues.
• Ability to document processes, functional and non-functional requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Experience with Jira, Confluence, and Git version control.
• Ability to identify and implement AI opportunities in analysis, requirements management, data analysis, testing, and operations.
• Familiarity with REST/SOAP APIs and advanced SQL proficiency for relational data extraction, transformation, and analysis.

Preferred qualifications

• CBAP or PMI-PBA certification is preferred.
• A Master’s Certificate in Business Analysis is preferred.
