Role overview

Lead Business Analyst in the FCDO Services Digital and Data technology team.

Lead business analysis across projects supporting secure government digital and IT services.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality analysis and establish standards, templates, and output assurance.
  • Maintain consistency, traceability, and alignment with government digital and data capability frameworks.
  • Produce reusable artefacts and analyse business rules, data models, and user documentation.
  • Translate complex business needs into testable requirements.
  • Represent the business group at governance boards, committees, and design authorities.
  • Mentor analysts, provide expert consultancy, and collaborate with stakeholders and third-party suppliers.
  • Review requirements, manage dependencies, maintain standards, and oversee risk, compliance, and change.
  • Monitor delivery metrics and feedback, evolve analysis methods, and promote evidence-based decisions.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, professional-level Business Analysis certification, or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Translate business needs into user stories and requirements; perform process mapping and gap analysis and develop change plans.
  • Collaborate with senior leaders, mentor colleagues, and lead business analysis, service design, and complex digital or IT services.
  • Design secure or air-gapped government platforms and understand NCSC, GDS, and UK government security frameworks.
  • Lead co-design workshops and apply human-centred design methods.

Salary and benefits

  • Salary is £62,561–£65,371, with a £1,750 location allowance.
  • Civil Service Pension with an employer contribution of 28.97%.

  • Permanent, full-time position.
