Land Operations Manager

· Possess knowledge of all types of trucks and trailers.

· Have a solid understanding of cross-border transportation.

·Must have 6 years experience working as an Land Operations Manager

· Be capable of handling normal and out-of-gauge cargo, including special handling requirements and sensitive cargo (e.g., cargo requiring air suspension trailers).

· Source trucks at competitive rates from reliable providers.

· Maintain long-term relationships with transport companies by signing agreements and regularly reviewing performance.

· Maintain a pool of drivers and distribute jobs among them to encourage healthy competition and ensure a continuous supply of trucks, avoiding dependence on a single transport company or brokers.

· Closely monitor the operations team and distribute tasks effectively among members.

· Analyze shipment details and inform the sales team in advance about required permissions and potential challenges related to cargo type, ensuring proper preparation before execution.

· Provide cost-effective solutions to the sales team by suggesting alternative routes or border options.

· Identify and onboard new transport companies, drivers, and brokers.

· Introduce new transport companies/ Drivers/ Brokers

· Lead, supervise, and develop operations staff to ensure high performance and adherence to KPIs.

· Define department KPIs & Conduct regular performance evaluations and coordinate with HR on employee development

· Develop and apply standard operating procedures (SOPs) aligned with company policies and industry standards.

· Provide expert guidance on resolving operational challenges, including customs clearance delays, documentation discrepancies, and shipment handling issues.

· Ensure all team members are properly trained, qualified, and aligned with their job responsibilities.

· Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

· Recognize and reward employee contributions and innovative ideas.

· Delegate tasks among team members and prioritize jobs based on urgency.

· Maintain a profitable operations department by optimizing freight costs, routing efficiency, and resource utilization.

· Identify cost-saving opportunities in shipping, transport, and handling without compromising service quality, and provide cost-effective solutions to the sales team.

· Conduct regular supplier meetings to review performance and take corrective actions.

· Collect and analyze operational and financial data, including shipment volumes, costs, margins, and performance trends & update management

· Monitor and control operational expenditures, including shipping line payments, transporter costs, and daily operational expenses.
