Sea/Air Operations Manager

Responsibilities

• Know all freight modes, including FCL, LCL, RORO, breakbulk, project cargo, etc.Must have 6 years of experience working in Sea/Air Operations
• Be familiar with all processes related to import, export, transit, and multimodal transport.
• Have a strong understanding of port procedures.
• Demonstrate expertise in reaching difficult destinations using various transport modes.
• Understand the handling requirements of different cargo types, including temperature-controlled, high-value, and oversized cargo.
• Be knowledgeable about all types of clearance applicable in the GCC and other regions.
• Have awareness of free zone formalities.
• · Lead, supervise, and develop operations staff to ensure high performance and adherence to KPIs.
• Define department KPIs & Conduct regular performance evaluations, and coordinate with HR on employee development
• Develop and apply standard operating procedures (SOPs) aligned with company policies and industry standards.
• Provide expert guidance on resolving operational challenges, including customs clearance delays, documentation discrepancies, and shipment handling issues.
• Ensure all team members are properly trained, qualified, and aligned with their job responsibilities.
• Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
• Recognize and reward employee contributions and innovative ideas.
• Delegate tasks among team members and prioritize jobs based on urgency.
• Maintain a profitable operations department by optimizing freight costs, routing efficiency, and resource utilization.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities in shipping, transport, and handling without compromising service quality, and provide cost-effective solutions to the sales team.
• Conduct regular supplier meetings to review performance and take corrective actions.
• Collect and analyze operational and financial data, including shipment volumes, costs, margins, and performance trends & update management
• Monitor and control operational expenditures, including shipping line payments, transporter costs, and daily operational expenses.
