Role overview

Technical duties

• Perform preventive maintenance and respond promptly to equipment breakdowns, following manufacturer guidelines, safety standards, and hotel procedures.
• Repair and maintain kitchen equipment, including cooking, preparation, refrigeration, and dishwashing equipment.
• Carry out electric arc or oxy-acetylene welding, pipe repairs, pipe fitting, and minor plumbing work.
• Respond to unscheduled work requests within 15 minutes of receipt.
• Maintain accurate records and support equipment reliability and kitchen operating efficiency.

Safety and coordination

• Coordinate with Culinary and Stewarding teams to minimize disruption and provide additional services for functions, promotions, and festivities when needed.
• Keep the plant room, workshop, and related areas clean and tidy; maintain a clean, presentable uniform and appearance.
• Observe prescribed safety standards and help maintain safe conditions for self and others.
• Perform related duties and special projects as assigned.

Experience and skills

• At least two years of experience in the same role in a hospitality environment is required.
• Knowledge of repair, maintenance, and installation techniques for kitchen equipment, including combi ovens, cooking and preparation equipment, refrigeration, and dishwashing equipment, is required.
• Knowledge of electrical control systems is required.
• Ability to diagnose and resolve problems and use hand and power tools is required.
• A self-motivated, hands-on, and flexible approach is expected.
