The Storage and Backup Infrastructure Junior Engineer provides Tier 1 and Tier 2 support for enterprise storage and backup environments.
The role maintains reliability, security, performance, data availability, data integrity, business continuity, and data protection.
Storage Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, maintain, monitor, and optimize SAN, NAS, cloud storage environments, and enterprise storage arrays.
- Configure zoning, LUN provisioning, volume management, capacity planning, maintenance, upgrades, patching, and hardware lifecycle activities.
- Troubleshoot storage connectivity, performance degradation, and data integrity issues.
Backup Responsibilities
- Administer enterprise backup software, schedule and maintain backup jobs, and troubleshoot backup failures.
- Implement data protection and retention policies, perform data recovery, and conduct restore tests to validate backup integrity.
- Act as an escalation point for complex issues that Tier 1 support cannot resolve.
Required Experience
- Three to four years of storage and backup engineering or administration experience.
- Two to three years of experience with modern storage and cloud storage technologies.
- Two to three years of hands-on experience with enterprise backup software, data recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Two to three years of experience with VMware vSphere or other hypervisors.
- Two to three years of experience with Fibre Channel, NFS, SMB/CIFS, S3, and iSCSI protocols.
- One to two years of experience with PowerShell or Python, Windows and Linux/Unix administration, and ticketing systems such as ServiceNow or JIRA.
Technology Experience
- The role involves storage platforms such as NetApp, Dell, Pure, and Infinidat, with backup platforms such as Cohesity and Rubrik.
- The role involves enterprise storage arrays, backup and recovery systems, virtualization platforms, automation, scripting, and ticketing tools.
