The role supports the Sous Chef and Head Chef with daily kitchen operations, consistent food quality, and food safety and hygiene standards.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Sous Chef and Head Chef with daily kitchen operations; supervise and support kitchen staff.
- Ensure food preparation, presentation, quality, taste, portions, and plating meet company standards.
- Monitor food stock, inventory, and ingredient usage to minimize waste.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and HACCP compliance.
- Support menu preparation, recipe development, and new dish trials.
- Monitor kitchen cleanliness, equipment maintenance, and organization.
- Train and guide junior kitchen team members; assist with food cost and resource management.
- Ensure timely food preparation and service during busy periods.
Requirements
- At least 3–5 years of professional kitchen experience; café, restaurant, or hotel experience is preferred.
- Previous Junior Sous Chef, Senior Chef de Partie, or similar supervisory experience is preferred.
- Strong cooking, food preparation, kitchen operations, leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and HACCP standards.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment; strong organization and attention to detail.
- Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required.
