Responsibilities and deliverables
- Define and write implementation specifications, derive algorithms, and develop code from design documents.
- Design and develop high-quality code.
- Test, debug, analyze, and fix application problems, coordinating with stakeholders for timely resolution.
- Follow software development lifecycle processes.
- Support product releases and resolve program problems with internal stakeholders.
- Support and mentor the team where needed.
- Analyze Java application components and Oracle database dependencies.
- Refactor database access layers, stored procedure integrations, and data access logic for PostgreSQL compatibility.
- Tune performance and optimize queries to meet or exceed Oracle baseline performance.
Experience and skills
- Required experience: 5–8 years.
- Must have excellent knowledge of Java and J2EE.
- Listed technologies include Core Java, Hibernate, JPA, JTA, Spring, XMLBeans, web services, XML, XSD, REST, microservices, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Kafka, Vertex, SQL, IBM MQ, ActiveMQ, JMS, WebSphere, WebLogic, JUnit, Mockito, Gradle, and Maven.
- Hands-on PostgreSQL experience and strong Oracle Database experience are listed.
- GPP and/or payments domain knowledge is listed as a plus.
- Oracle-to-PostgreSQL migration project experience is listed as preferred.
- Good analytical and logical skills; awareness of software engineering processes across design, coding, and testing.
- Ability to work independently or under low supervision; good verbal and written communication skills.
