Primary purpose

Implement instrumentation-maintenance policies, procedures, and strategies that support the objectives and targets of PS-3 oil and gas production and processing platforms.

Diagnose instrumentation-loop problems that could disrupt the process and resolve them while optimizing manpower and material requirements.

Maintenance and shift coordination

  • Complete work orders and checklists with actual labor hours, materials used, job completion dates, and analyzed codes.
  • At the end of each shift, update the Senior Operations Maintenance Engineer on section status and discuss technical or logistical assistance needs and programme delays.
  • Monitor contractors and control their on-site DCS and telemetry instrumentation work; explain permit-to-work procedures.
  • Personally perform complex maintenance and repairs, including work on interlocks, shutdown equipment, circuit boards, nodes, lamps, transmitters, and electronic chips.
  • Calibrate complex instrumentation and control systems; analyze electronic-circuit faults, particularly in digital and microprocessor-based instruments.
  • Perform fieldbus, block-diagram, and graphic modifications.

Materials and records

  • Receive, identify, and securely store incoming materials and spare parts, ensuring they are fully labeled.
  • Check shipment manifests against contents, sign delivery notes, and pass copies to the Senior Maintenance Operation Engineer for onward dispatch to the Material Coordinator.
  • Return incorrect materials to the Doha Coordinator with documentation and comments.
  • Regularly review outstanding preventive and corrective maintenance jobs and reduce the accumulated backlog.
  • Maintain files for completed and ongoing work, requisitions and orders, and instrument-work paperwork, including data sheets, material costs, repair failures, and activity reports.

Required experience and education

  • At least ten years of varied petrochemical-industry experience installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electronic and pneumatic instruments and control systems.
  • BSc in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Aptitude for understanding drawings, P&IDs, and cause-and-effect information for complex microprocessor- or pneumatic-based field and package instrumentation control systems.
