HEAD, DATA MANAGEMENT

Primary purpose

Accountabilities

• Manage a skilled team of senior data engineers, data architects, and data platform administrators to build data services.
• Lead data operations across cloud platforms, pipelines, automation, data models, and cataloging to enable digital and analytics work.
• Define data strategy across architecture, engineering, cloud data platforms, and talent, aligned with business and digital strategies.
• Create and mature governance for data ownership, access controls, quality standards, and security policies.
• Set the annual data management budget and oversee reporting quality and spending.
• Champion data-driven decision-making across the business.
• Deliver prioritized use cases with measurable value and appropriate resource allocation.

Required experience and skills

• Recent oil and gas industry experience and experience with Azure data foundations are mandatory; candidates lacking either will not be considered.
• At least 15 years of experience within the energy industry.
• At least 8 years of proven data management experience; oil and gas data management experience is preferred.
• Strong understanding of upstream and downstream data requirements.
• Strong knowledge of database systems, BI technologies, applications architecture, and information security principles.
• Experience leading implementation and monitoring of cloud data platforms, pipelines, automation, data models, and cataloging.
• Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams.
• Experience developing strategic partnerships with top data service providers.

Education

• A degree in statistics, engineering, or a technology-related field is required.
• A master’s or PhD in data science, computer science, oil and gas, energy management, or petroleum engineering is highly desirable.
