Build and lead a data management team and practice with business and digital teams.
Ensure data quality, integrity, and security while capturing data-driven value across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Manage a team of senior data engineers, data architects, and data platform administrators.
- Lead cloud data platform, pipeline, automation, data model, and cataloging operations.
- Set data strategy across architecture, engineering, cloud platforms, and talent in alignment with business and digital strategies.
- Create and mature governance for data ownership, access, quality, and security.
- Manage budgets, reporting quality, and spending oversight for data management.
- Promote data-driven decision-making across the business.
- Deliver measurable-value use cases and prioritize resources.
Required experience and skills
- At least 15 years of energy-industry experience and eight years of data management experience; oil and gas is preferred for the latter.
- Recent oil and gas experience and Azure data foundations experience are required for consideration.
- Strong understanding of upstream and downstream data requirements.
- Strong knowledge of database systems, BI technologies, applications architecture, and information security principles.
- Experience leading data operations teams and building high-performing teams.
- Experience developing strategic partnerships with data service providers.
Education
- A degree in statistics, engineering, or a technology-related field is required.
- A master's or PhD in data science, computer science, oil and gas, energy management, or petroleum engineering is highly desirable.
