Qualifications

• Relevant current hands-on commercial experience in infrastructure, DevOps or systems engineering.
• A degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Current practical experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management, particularly Ansible or similar deployment tooling.
• Good working knowledge of Linux and Windows environments and virtual machine platforms.
• Experience with infrastructure monitoring and observability tools such as Prometheus.
• Strong infrastructure troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with experience using work-tracking tools such as Jira or similar.
• Willingness to work hands-on in a lab environment and enthusiasm for applying AI and automation to operational workflows.
• Previous experience working in an engineering, test or laboratory environment.
• Experience with physical infrastructure, racks, networking, fibre or Cat6 cabling.
• Broader experience in infrastructure standardisation, operational tooling or process improvement.

• How you’ll work
• We've adopted a hybrid working approach to give more flexibility on where and how we work. The hybrid working expectations for this role are 2 days in the office per week.
• Your office base
• Brentwood - From developing and testing the latest products, to building cutting-edge software, our Sky Labs office in Brentwood is our home of innovation. Onsite you’ll find a range of facilities and spaces to work and connect, including a café offering hot meals and snacks. We’re based right in the heart of Brentwood, just a 10-minute walk from the train station which has regular trains to London Liverpool Street. If cycling is more up your street, there’s bike racks and showers onsite. If driving, there’s onsite parking available and further car parks a short walk away.

Responsibilities

• Support, maintain and improve lab infrastructure, including Windows and Linux systems, virtual machines, networking and associated infrastructure.
• Develop infrastructure automation and configuration management using tools such as Ansible, reducing repetitive provisioning, configuration, validation and operational activities.
• Monitor and troubleshoot infrastructure health and connectivity, using observability technologies such as Prometheus to improve reliability and operational visibility.
• Explore AI and automation opportunities to improve engineering workflows, standardisation and operational efficiency.
• Support hands-on lab activities and collaborate with engineering teams, including rack equipment installation, patching, fibre and Cat6 cabling, while tracking engineering activities through Jira.
