  • Prepare balance sheet and P&L analysis with commentary on key variances.

Balance sheet integrity

  • Manage intercompany balances and settlements and resolve mismatches with counterparties.
  • Support fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, and disposals.

Controls and team support

  • Run key financial controls, maintain audit-ready evidence, and flag control weaknesses.
  • Support audit requests, statutory accounts preparation, and tax queries; keep desktop procedures and process documentation current.
  • Act as first escalation point for the offshore RTR team, review its output, answer queries, and help build capability.
  • Work with FP&A, business partners, Treasury, Tax, Payments, and other GAO teams to resolve issues.
  • Coach and support junior colleagues and new starters.

Continuous improvement

  • Find and deliver close-process improvements, such as journal standardization, automation, and greater use of BlackLine and SAP functionality.
  • Support system upgrades, testing, and finance transformation projects as needed.

What you will bring

  • Part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA) or qualified by experience.
  • Experience in month-end close, journals, and balance sheet reconciliations in a large or complex organization.
  • Good understanding of double-entry accounting and financial controls.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with an ERP system; SAP is preferred.
  • Attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
  • Clear communication with finance and non-finance stakeholders.

Hours

How you will work

  • Hybrid working arrangement with an expectation of two days per week in the office.
  • Office base is Livingston, West Lothian.
