Role overview

Infrastructure leadership and governance

• Own infrastructure architecture, standards, governance, and operational maturity.
• Lead planning across Linux, Windows, private cloud, application servers, networking, security, containers, and business systems.
• Define and enforce operating standards and review major infrastructure and production changes.
• Lead decisions for availability, scalability, monitoring, security, backup, and disaster recovery.
• Convert recurring manual work into automation backlog items.

Virtualization and container platforms

• Define virtualization standards, VM lifecycle and template policies, backup standards, and capacity planning models.
• Oversee VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, OpenStack, Nutanix, Azure Stack, or similar platforms.
• Define container standards for Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift, Helm, registries, image scanning, secrets, namespaces, RBAC, and resource limits.
• Ensure workloads have owners, backup plans, monitoring, access models, and documentation; prevent VM and container sprawl.

Availability, recovery, and security

• Design and maintain high-availability infrastructure and own backup validation, restore testing, and disaster recovery planning.
• Define RPO/RTO targets, conduct recovery simulations and resilience reviews, and document critical-system recovery procedures.
• Oversee security controls across operating systems, cloud, containers, networks, application servers, CRM, ERP, SharePoint, and Microsoft 365.
• Enforce MFA, least privilege, access reviews, audit trails, secure secrets management, patch governance, and vulnerability remediation priorities.

Incidents and team leadership

• Lead major production incidents and coordinate technical response, severity, escalation, root cause analysis, and post-incident improvements.
• Maintain production runbooks and escalation procedures and participate in the critical-incident on-call rotation.
• Guide systems, application server, and DevOps engineers and lead cross-training across the infrastructure team.
• Maintain shared on-call coverage, assign primary and backup system ownership, and ensure runbooks replace tribal knowledge.

Required qualifications

• At least 8 years in infrastructure, platform engineering, systems engineering, DevOps, private cloud operations, or enterprise IT operations.
• Strong experience leading production infrastructure in mature enterprise environments.
• Strong knowledge of Linux and Windows Server.
• Proven experience building or operating private cloud or virtualization platforms.
• Experience with high availability, backup, disaster recovery, incident management, and root cause analysis.
• Strong understanding of security-first infrastructure operations.
• Must be based in Dubai, UAE.

Preferred qualifications

• ISO 27001, SOC 2, PCI-DSS, UAE PDPL, GDPR, or similar compliance experience is preferred.
• Strong preference for regulated, policy-driven environments such as semi-government, banking, telecom, energy, healthcare, or defense.
• Relevant environments use formal change advisory boards, documented custodianship, audit trails, and strict process compliance.
