The consultant/developer designs, customizes, and implements enterprise event-management and AIOps solutions based on customer requirements.
The role develops automation and Netcool Impact policies for event correlation and scenario-based event processing.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, implement, and customize IBM Watson AIOps and Netcool Operations Insight solutions.
- Translate customer requirements into scalable technical solutions and policy-driven workflows that reduce alert noise.
- Develop Impact policies for event enrichment, correlation, suppression, automation, scenario processing, and business logic.
- Integrate monitoring tools and third-party systems using REST APIs, JDBC, SNMP, Webhooks, Kafka, or other supported interfaces.
- Configure OMNIbus ObjectServer and probes; build Event Manager automation workflows.
- Map, normalize, and enrich events; implement topology-aware correlation where applicable.
- Create dashboards, reports, and operational views; troubleshoot issues and optimize processing performance.
- Prepare technical designs, implementation guides, documentation, and runbooks; support implementation, testing, and production rollout.
Required experience
- At least 5 years of experience with IBM Netcool products and at least 3 years with IBM Watson AIOps or IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps.
- Proven Netcool Impact policy development and experience implementing event correlation, event automation, and enterprise monitoring integrations with IBM NOI.
- Troubleshooting and debugging skills, production support experience, and customer-facing solution implementation experience.
Required technical skills
- IBM Watson AIOps, Netcool Operations Insight, Netcool Impact, OMNIbus, Event Manager, and Agile Service Manager.
- Netcool Impact policy development, JavaScript, SQL, REST APIs, XML/JSON, and Linux shell scripting.
- Integration technologies include SNMP, Web Services, REST APIs, JDBC, Kafka, Webhooks, and message queues.
- Infrastructure knowledge includes Linux administration, Red Hat OpenShift, Docker/Kubernetes, networking, TCP/IP, and SSL certificates.
Education and preferred qualifications
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent industry experience is also considered.
- Preferred: IBM Watson AIOps or Netcool certification, Python, OpenShift/Kubernetes, ServiceNow or Maximo integration, DevOps/CI/CD, and AI-driven event analytics.
Candidate profile
The ideal candidate brings strong analytical and problem-solving ability, communication, teamwork, stakeholder management, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
Deep AIOps and Netcool expertise and experience designing scenario-based event-correlation and automation workflows are highly desirable.
