IBM Watson AIOps / IBM Netcool Operations Insight (NOI) Consultant / Developer

Role overview

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, implement, and customize IBM Watson AIOps and NOI solutions based on customer requirements.
• Develop Netcool Impact policies for event enrichment, correlation, suppression, automation, scenario processing, and business logic.
• Build policy-driven workflows to reduce alert noise and improve operational efficiency.
• Integrate NOI with monitoring tools and third-party systems using REST APIs, JDBC, SNMP, Webhooks, Kafka, or other supported interfaces.
• Configure OMNIbus ObjectServer and probes; develop IBM Watson AIOps Event Manager workflows.
• Perform event mapping, normalization, and enrichment; implement topology-aware correlation where applicable.
• Develop dashboards, reports, and operational views; troubleshoot components and optimize event-processing performance.
• Prepare designs, documentation, implementation guides, and runbooks; support implementation, testing, production rollout, and project stakeholders.

Required technical skills and experience

• Required IBM technologies include Watson AIOps, Netcool Operations Insight, Netcool Impact, Netcool OMNIbus, IBM Event Manager, and IBM Agile Service Manager.
• Development skills include Netcool Impact policy development, JavaScript for Impact policies, SQL, REST APIs, XML/JSON, and Linux shell scripting.
• Integration technologies include SNMP, web services, REST API integration, JDBC, Kafka, Webhooks, and message queues.
• Infrastructure knowledge includes Linux administration, networking fundamentals, TCP/IP, and SSL certificates.
• At least 5 years of IBM Netcool product experience and at least 3 years of IBM Watson AIOps or IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps experience are required.
• Proven Netcool Impact policy development, event correlation and automation, enterprise monitoring integration, troubleshooting, production support, and customer-facing implementation experience are required.

Preferred qualifications and education

• IBM Cloud Pak for AIOps and Python are listed as preferred skills.
• IBM Watson AIOps or Netcool certification, OpenShift and Kubernetes, ITSM integrations, DevOps/CI/CD, automation tools, and AI-driven event analytics are preferred.
• A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline is sought; equivalent industry experience is also considered.
• The candidate should demonstrate analytical and problem-solving ability, communication, teamwork, customer focus, stakeholder management, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
