Serve as the first point of contact for guests, creating a welcoming experience.
Greet guests, manage reservations, and coordinate seating to support smooth service.
Key responsibilities
- Greet guests warmly upon arrival.
- Manage the waitlist and reservations using a seating chart or booking software.
- Escort guests to tables and present menus.
- Communicate wait times and accommodate special requests when possible.
- Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to optimize seating and service flow.
- Answer calls and respond to guest inquiries professionally.
- Maintain the front-of-house area's cleanliness and appearance.
- Handle guest concerns and escalate to management as needed.
- Assist with basic administrative tasks and team operations when necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Prior hostess or customer-facing experience is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure.
- Flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Reservation-system familiarity, including OpenTable or Resy, is advantageous.
Working conditions
- Fast-paced hospitality environment.
- Standing for extended periods.
