Head of Mechanical Engineering

Role summary

Leadership and engineering delivery

• Lead the Mechanical Engineering Department and project teams; guide engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
• Review and approve designs, drawings, calculations, specifications, technical submissions, shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, BOQs, and technical documents.
• Plan and monitor work from design through installation, testing, commissioning, inspection, and handover.
• Supervise mechanical installation and oversee HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, piping, pumps, equipment, and other mechanical systems.

Project coordination and compliance

• Coordinate with clients, consultants, contractors, suppliers, and other engineering disciplines; participate in technical and progress meetings.
• Monitor progress, manpower, resources, quality, and schedules; conduct inspections and resolve technical issues.
• Verify materials and equipment against approved specifications and standards; coordinate procurement for timely supply.
• Ensure compliance with Qatar regulations, project specifications, HSE requirements, and international engineering standards.
• Provide technical input for tenders, estimates, and proposals; prepare and review technical and progress reports, inspection requests, and project documentation.
• Identify risks and corrective measures; support maintenance teams with guidance and troubleshooting when needed; ensure completed works are documented and handed over.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• 12–15 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, including senior or department-head experience.
• Qatar experience with UPDA A.
• Strong experience in mechanical construction, MEP, infrastructure, or building projects.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, pumps, piping, mechanical equipment, drawings, specifications, calculations, and engineering standards.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office; knowledge of relevant mechanical design software is an advantage.
• Strong leadership, project management, communication, and problem-solving skills; experience coordinating stakeholders and managing multiple projects and multidisciplinary teams.

Pay

• QAR 3,855.58–12,222.20 per month.
