Executive-level Head of Internal Audit opportunity in Dubai.
Leads an independent assurance function and influences governance and risk decisions to strengthen the organization's control environment.
Key responsibilities
- Set Internal Audit direction and align priorities with the organization's risk profile, regulatory obligations, and strategic priorities.
- Advise the Board Audit Committee and executive leadership on control effectiveness, governance weaknesses, emerging risks, and management attention areas.
- Oversee assurance across banking, financial crime controls, technology, treasury, credit, compliance, and other high-risk areas.
- Improve audit quality through methodologies, analytics, and reporting practices.
- Coordinate with regulators, external auditors, and senior stakeholders on reviews, findings, and remediation commitments.
- Lead and develop the audit team, ensuring capability, independence, accountability, and timely closure of significant issues.
Requirements
- 12+ years in banking or financial services, including substantial internal audit and assurance experience.
- Previous Head of Internal Audit or comparable experience is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of risk-based auditing, governance, internal controls, regulatory compliance, and IIA professional standards.
- Experience presenting complex audit matters to Board Audit Committees, senior executives, regulators, and external assurance providers.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Banking, Business Administration, Audit, or a related discipline.
- CIA certification is highly preferred; CPA, ACCA, CISA, CFA, or CRMA qualifications are additional advantages.
