The role focuses on effective credit control, timely collections, and accurate financial reporting.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and oversee the accounts receivable and collections team.
- Manage customer billing, invoicing, payment allocation, and account reconciliations.
- Monitor outstanding receivables and ensure timely collection of overdue payments.
- Develop and implement collection strategies and credit control procedures.
- Prepare and review aging reports, collection forecasts, and receivables performance reports.
- Follow up with clients about outstanding payments and resolve billing disputes.
- Coordinate with project, commercial, and finance teams to ensure accurate, timely invoicing.
- Monitor customer credit limits and assess payment risks.
- Oversee monthly accounts receivable closing activities.
- Report and recommend actions to management regarding cash flow and collection performance.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable accounting standards.
- Supervise, train, and support the accounts receivable team to achieve collection targets.
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Five to seven years of relevant accounting experience, including leadership or supervisory experience in accounts receivable.
- Construction or contracting industry experience is highly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of credit control, collections, customer reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and accounting software or ERP systems.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts, meet collection targets, work under pressure, and coordinate across departments.
