General Accountant

Role

Key responsibilities

• Manage the hotel general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded and reconciled accurately.
• Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll processes.
• Lead month-end and year-end close and prepare financial reports on time.
• Prepare and review balance sheet and bank reconciliations and journal entries.
• Assist with budgets, forecasts, and financial statements.
• Coordinate with auditors, tax advisors, and government entities on audits, VAT, zakat, and statutory filings.
• Maintain fixed asset registers and oversee inventory counts and cost control records.
• Ensure compliance with financial policies, internal controls, and local accounting and tax regulations.
• Train and support staff on accounting procedures, financial systems, and best practices.

Experience and qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 3–5 years of accounting experience; hospitality experience is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, IFRS, financial reporting, and local tax requirements.
• Ability to manage reconciliations, reporting deadlines, and audit requirements.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with high proficiency in Excel.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and integrity.
• Fluency in English and Arabic.

Preferred systems and certification

• Experience with hotel PMS or POS and accounting software such as Sun Systems, Oracle, or SAP is preferred.
• CPA, SOCPA, or ACCA certification is an advantage.
