Job purpose
Supervise line crews installing, maintaining, and repairing underground and overhead electric transmission systems.
Oversee equipment, materials, and record-keeping.
Line operations
- Supervise crews and evaluate each member's performance, arranging training or corrective action as needed.
- Analyze work methods and develop improved procedures.
- Maintain clearances with other utilities and install electrical connectors, transformers, switches, service lines, poles, meters, and metering devices.
- Secure equipment and cables in manholes and vaults.
- Report project status to supervisors, site engineers, and other officials.
Safety and team leadership
- Train, instruct, and mentor line workers to ensure safety rules and procedures are followed.
- Recognize and develop high performers, address low performance, and treat subordinates equally.
Planning and delivery
- Plan, execute, and monitor business plans; take corrective action to strengthen results.
- Deliver work on time, to required quality and cost, and provide periodic progress reports.
- Monitor budgets and expenses for cost efficiency.
Process and compliance
- Develop procedures and policies, identify automation opportunities, and use relevant IT solutions.
- Maintain a safe, secure, and legally compliant work environment.
Qualifications and competencies
- Diploma in Electrical Institute studies.
- 6 to 10 years of work experience.
- Listed competencies include quality control, safety, troubleshooting, communication, multitasking, teamwork, physical fitness, hand and power tool proficiency, equipment maintenance, quick learning, and adaptability.
