Reporting to the Estimating Manager, the Estimating Lead delivers estimates, budgets, and schedules and implements systems to manage project risk.
What You Will Do
- Lead detailed cost estimates for major civil infrastructure bids using the Hard Dollar estimating platform.
- Collaborate with clients, partners, and internal stakeholders throughout the bid lifecycle.
- Prepare procurement packages, evaluate subcontractor and supplier submissions, and incorporate pricing.
- Complete quantity take-offs and review specifications to define project scope.
- Coordinate with operations, procurement, finance, and other estimators on submissions.
- Gather and validate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Review tender and proposal documents and coordinate bonding and insurance requirements.
- Identify and mitigate risks, support proposal documentation, and participate in bid reviews.
- Present estimate strategy, constructability, and cost targets to management.
- Prepare client clarification requests and administer bid document management.
What You Bring
- At least 10 years of civil project estimating experience in construction.
- Experience with large-scale and design-build projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction contract types and contract language.
- Experience with tender investigations and site-condition documentation.
- Previous mentorship or leadership experience.
- Strong vendor negotiation experience and understanding of tender-stage margin forecasting.
- Expertise in handover from estimating to operations.
- Background checks and a valid driver's license are required.
Compensation
- The expected pay range is $110,000 to $150,000 per year.
- Individual pay depends on work location, education, experience, skills, job conditions, certifications, training, and role complexity.
