Environmental Engineer

Role overview

Key responsibilities

• Lead planning, implementation, and monitoring of environmental programmes aligned with objectives and sustainability targets.
• Develop environmental management strategies, policies, and improvement initiatives.
• Monitor energy, water, waste, emissions, and resource utilisation.
• Ensure compliance with UAE environmental regulations, applicable standards, and ISO 14001 requirements.
• Conduct environmental inspections, audits, risk assessments, and compliance reviews.
• Identify pollution prevention, carbon reduction, waste minimisation, and sustainable resource management opportunities.
• Work with operational teams, contractors, and stakeholders to implement environmental initiatives.
• Develop KPIs, reports, and dashboards to track programme effectiveness.
• Deliver environmental awareness sessions and promote sustainability.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Sustainability Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least five years of relevant experience in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, or Sustainability.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, ISO 14001, environmental management systems, and sustainability practices.
• Experience implementing programmes in facilities management, infrastructure, engineering, or large-scale operational environments.
• Knowledge of energy efficiency, water conservation, waste management, emissions monitoring, and environmental risk assessments.
• Ability to coordinate initiatives, monitor KPIs, and engage stakeholders; strong analytical, project coordination, communication, and reporting skills.
• ISO 14001 Lead Auditor, NEBOSH Environmental Management, or equivalent certifications are advantageous.
• Experience leading sustainability programmes across complex, multi-site facilities is preferred.
