Key responsibilities
- Improve and standardize local development environments for Java and Tomcat applications.
- Define Git workflows, pull request processes, branching strategies, and code review practices.
- Build and maintain dependency mocking and service virtualization solutions.
- Drive automated unit, integration, API, and regression testing.
- Establish OpenAPI-based API contract standards to support independent frontend and backend development.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, build reliability, and deployment automation.
- Create developer tools, automation scripts, onboarding documentation, templates, and engineering runbooks.
- Identify productivity bottlenecks and implement improvements to efficiency and code quality.
Required skills and experience
- 6–9 years of experience in Java development, DevOps, platform engineering, or Developer Experience.
- Strong experience with Java, Tomcat, JSP, Servlets, JDBC, and Spring MVC and/or Spring Boot.
- Understand legacy Java monoliths and modernization practices; have hands-on Git workflow and code review experience.
- Experience with test automation, integration, regression, and API testing.
- Know WireMock, MockServer, TestContainers, or similar mocking and service virtualization tools.
- Experience with API contracts, OpenAPI specifications, and RESTful services.
- Familiarity with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar CI/CD platforms.
- Strong understanding of SQL databases and dependency management.
- Proficiency in Linux and Bash and/or Python scripting.
- Experience building internal developer tools, automation utilities, or productivity frameworks.
Additional advantage
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Codex, Claude Code, or GitHub Copilot is an added advantage.
