Electrical Design Engineer

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review electrical design calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Develop power distribution, lighting, emergency lighting, small-power, and equipment-power layouts.
• Prepare load calculations, load schedules, SLDs, panel schedules, and cable sizing calculations.
• Design and coordinate transformers, switchgear, distribution boards, and other electrical equipment.
• Prepare and review lighting layouts, lighting calculations, and emergency lighting designs.
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to resolve design conflicts.
• Ensure compliance with UAE regulations, authority requirements, project specifications, and applicable international standards.
• Submit drawings and technical documents to SEWA, DEWA, and FEWA/EtihadWE as applicable; address comments and coordinate resubmissions through approval.
• Review shop drawings, material submittals, technical submissions, and contractor proposals against approved designs.
• Conduct design reviews, identify technical issues, and recommend engineering solutions.
• Liaise with clients, project managers, authorities, and multidisciplinary design teams throughout the project.
• Support design quality, technical accuracy, and timely delivery.

Qualifications and experience

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• The job description states a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in electrical design within an engineering consultancy environment.
• Experience in commercial, residential, high-rise, and industrial building projects.
• Knowledge of UAE electrical authority requirements, particularly SEWA, DEWA, and FEWA/EtihadWE.
• Experience preparing design calculations, layouts, load schedules, SLDs, and authority submissions.
• Understanding of UAE codes, international electrical standards, and building regulations.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and relevant electrical design and calculation software.
• Experience coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and responding to authority comments.
• Strong technical, analytical, coordination, and communication skills; ability to manage multiple deliverables and deadlines.
• Engineering consultancy background, hands-on UAE authority approval experience, and varied building-project exposure are preferred.
• An additional experience field lists 7 years in Electrical Design and 4 years in Engineering Consultancy as required.
