EHS Engineer

Role overview

Safety monitoring and risk assessment

• Conduct EHS inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments at telecom infrastructure sites.
• Identify hazards related to trenching, roadworks, utilities, and underground construction.
• Implement preventive and corrective measures and monitor site activities against approved safety procedures and risk assessments.

Compliance and incident management

• Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, best practices, client requirements, and project procedures.
• Coordinate safety measures with project managers and site supervisors; monitor permit-to-work systems and safe work method statements.
• Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; recommend corrective and preventive actions and follow up implementation.
• Maintain incident, inspection, safety observation, and corrective-action records; prepare reports and escalate incidents.

Training, reporting, and documentation

• Conduct EHS inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions for site personnel and subcontractors.
• Promote safety culture and ensure workers understand safety procedures, emergency arrangements, and hazard controls.
• Prepare EHS reports for clients, including DU and Etisalat, and relevant authorities.
• Maintain checklists, risk assessments, incident logs, compliance documents, and EHS performance indicators.
• Track audit findings and corrective actions through timely closure.

Qualifications and requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory.
• NEBOSH certification is mandatory.
• 5–7 years of EHS experience in telecom infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience in utilities, trenching, roadworks, and underground construction.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety, hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
• Experience coordinating with telecom clients, contractors, and site teams.
