Database Administrator (Microsoft SQL Server & PostgreSQL)

About the role

Database administration and performance

• Install, configure, patch, and upgrade SQL Server; maintain Always On Availability Groups and Failover Clustering.
• Manage backup, recovery, point-in-time recovery, access controls, encryption, and auditing.
• Review and optimize T-SQL code; support schema changes, indexing, and data-model reviews.
• Tune queries and investigate blocking, deadlocks, wait statistics, tempdb contention, and I/O bottlenecks.
• Build and monitor SSIS and ETL jobs, support migrations, and ensure reliable data loads and reprocessing.

PostgreSQL and operations

• Install, configure, and upgrade PostgreSQL on Linux; maintain streaming replication, high availability, backups, and recovery.
• Tune PostgreSQL and PL/pgSQL; manage connection pooling and authentication.
• Support incidents, service requests, and changes; perform root-cause analysis and prepare major-incident postmortems.
• Automate routine work, configure monitoring and alerts, test disaster recovery, maintain documentation, and take part in on-call rotation.

Required qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or similar, and 1–4+ years of hands-on database administration experience.
• Strong SQL Server, T-SQL, database performance tuning, and PostgreSQL skills, including replication, backup, and recovery.
• Hands-on ETL experience using SSIS or a similar tool; Linux administration; scripting with PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
• Experience supporting production systems, including out-of-hours work.

Preferred qualifications

• Nice to have: Kubernetes or OpenShift database deployments, Ansible, Prometheus and Grafana, Oracle or MySQL, relevant Microsoft/Red Hat/PostgreSQL certifications, or government/banking and NCA experience.

Pay

• Pay is SAR 6,700–22,000 per month.
