The Counter Salesman is a public-facing contact for customer questions about company products and services.
The role requires keeping knowledge of company products, services, and policies up to date.
Customer service and sales
- Assist counter customers, answer questions, and resolve queries effectively and courteously.
- Ask customers about their needs, provide relevant information, and record potential purchases.
- Follow up on orders and resolve problems to support customer satisfaction.
- Prepare quotations and communicate relevant procedures and policies.
- Develop strategies to meet sales targets and grow branch business.
Records, products, and warehouse
- Record customer details, orders, pricing, and quotations in the computer system and retrieve records when needed.
- Update product details and maintain knowledge of inventory and product functionality.
- Check incoming product quality against the original order and organize products in their warehouse locations.
- Document orders and vouchers and review information for completeness and accuracy.
- Check returned materials, arrange proper unloading, and verify materials are stacked according to instructions.
Safety and conduct
- Follow assigned safety rules, report potential hazards, and inspect delivery vehicles when required.
- Maintain confidentiality and follow company standards, policies, and codes of conduct.
- Maintain a professional appearance, be punctual, respect colleagues and management, and perform assigned physical duties.
Requirements
- Associate degree or high school diploma.
- Retail sales experience.
- Professional appearance and a positive attitude focused on customer satisfaction in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
