The Cost Controller monitors hotel costs and supports informed, efficient business decisions.
The role covers operational cost control, financial reporting, budgeting, inventory, labour analysis, and process improvement.
Cost Control Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyse operational costs against approved budgets.
- Maintain records for COGS, inventory, labour costs, and other expenses.
- Review cost reports and conduct audits for discrepancies and inefficiencies.
- Monitor stock levels and inventory accuracy.
- Review purchase orders, invoices, and contracts.
- Collaborate with Finance, Procurement, Operations, and other departments.
- Prepare cost performance and variance reports for management.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost planning.
- Analyse labour costs, staffing levels, shift patterns, and productivity.
- Identify cost-saving initiatives while protecting quality and guest experience.
- Support competitive sourcing and supplier-term compliance with Procurement.
- Follow company policies, procedures, and applicable accounting standards.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience in cost control, accounting, or a similar role.
- Hospitality industry experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of cost control, accounting procedures, budgeting, and financial reporting.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with financial and accounting systems.
- Ability to analyse financial data, identify trends, and make practical recommendations.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Clear communication and effective collaboration across departments.
- Understanding of the balance between financial performance and guest experience.
