Full-time Consultant Thoracic Surgeon role at a healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The position focuses on thoracic surgery, minimally invasive chest procedures, lung surgery, and complex thoracic conditions.
Clinical responsibilities
- Diagnose and surgically manage lung diseases, pleural disorders, mediastinal masses, and other thoracic conditions.
- Perform lung resections, lobectomy, pleural surgery, VATS, and other minimally invasive procedures within clinical privileges.
- Manage lung cancer, pulmonary nodules, pneumothorax, chest wall abnormalities, thoracic trauma, hemothorax, and emergency chest conditions.
- Perform biopsies, mediastinal procedures, and chest wall reconstruction when appropriately trained and credentialed.
- Assess patients before surgery, develop treatment plans, interpret diagnostic investigations, and provide post-operative care.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists and comply with DOH, infection-control, surgical-safety, and patient-safety requirements.
Qualifications and experience
- MBBS/MD or equivalent recognized medical degree and recognized postgraduate thoracic surgery qualification or accepted equivalent training.
- Board certification or equivalent recognized consultant-level qualification; eligibility for the appropriate Abu Dhabi DOH classification/license is required.
- Strong expertise in lung resections, minimally invasive thoracic surgery, thoracic oncology, and complex chest procedures.
- Minimum 5–10 years of post-specialization experience is preferred.
- Internationally recognized board qualifications and experience with VATS, robotic-assisted surgery, or advanced reconstruction are highly desirable.
