Role overview

Clinical responsibilities

• Diagnose and surgically manage brain, spine, and peripheral nervous system disorders; perform authorized cranial and spinal procedures.
• Evaluate brain tumors, spinal cord compression, herniated discs, and degenerative spinal conditions; perform appropriate spinal interventions.
• Manage traumatic brain injuries, intracranial hemorrhage, spinal trauma, and neurosurgical emergencies.
• Conduct neurological assessments, develop surgical treatment plans, interpret diagnostic investigations, and provide pre- and post-operative care.
• Use microsurgical, endoscopic, or minimally invasive techniques when appropriately trained; collaborate with multidisciplinary specialists.
• Follow DOH regulations, surgical safety protocols, infection control, and patient safety standards.

Qualifications and requirements

• MBBS/MD or equivalent recognized medical degree, postgraduate qualification in Neurosurgery, and board certification or equivalent specialist-level qualification.
• Eligible for DOH Specialist Neurosurgery classification or license in Abu Dhabi, subject to UAE PQR requirements and clinical privileges.
• Minimum 3–5 years of relevant post-specialization experience is preferred.
• Strong expertise in cranial surgery, spinal surgery, neurotrauma, and neurosurgical patient management.
• Internationally recognized qualifications are highly desirable; experience in microsurgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, or complex cranial procedures is highly desirable.
