Role overview

Clinical responsibilities

• Provide diagnostic and screening breast imaging and interpret mammography, 3D tomosynthesis, ultrasound, and MRI.
• Evaluate breast conditions, symptoms, dense tissue, high-risk profiles, and complex findings; apply BI-RADS consistently.
• Perform ultrasound-guided and stereotactic biopsies and lesion localization within authorized clinical privileges.
• Interpret MRI for screening, diagnosis, staging, and treatment response; provide structured reports and follow-up recommendations.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary breast care teams and contribute to tumor boards and treatment planning.
• Support screening and prevention initiatives; uphold patient safety, radiation protection, and quality assurance.
• Supervise and mentor junior radiologists, radiographers, and breast imaging team members.
• Participate in audits, quality improvement, research, teaching, CME, and development of breast imaging services.

Qualifications and requirements

• MBBS/MD or equivalent recognized medical degree; recognized postgraduate Diagnostic Radiology/Radiology qualification.
• Board certification or equivalent recognized consultant-level Radiology qualification.
• Breast Imaging/Breast Radiology fellowship or advanced subspecialty training is highly desirable.
• International specialist qualifications such as American Board, UK CCT, Canadian, Australian, or European qualifications are highly desirable.
• Five to ten years of post-specialization radiology experience, including substantial breast imaging experience, is preferred.
• Strong expertise in mammography, breast ultrasound, breast MRI, and breast imaging interpretation.
• Competence in BI-RADS reporting, breast cancer screening, and image-guided breast biopsy procedures.
• Experience in a specialized breast center, oncology hospital, or tertiary-care radiology department.
• Eligibility for DOH Consultant Radiology classification/license in Abu Dhabi, subject to UAE PQR requirements and appropriate privileges.
• Strong diagnostic judgment, communication, leadership, and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.
