Assist in preparing, baking, and presenting pastry, bakery, and dessert products while developing culinary skills and maintaining consistency, hygiene, and timely production.
Key responsibilities
- Prepare, bake, and present pastries, breads, cakes, desserts, and bakery products to established recipes and standards; support senior pastry chefs in kitchen operations.
- Maintain product quality and presentation; keep workstations, equipment, and storage areas clean and organized.
- Follow storage, labeling, and FIFO procedures; help receive and store supplies; observe portion controls and minimize waste.
- Produce and replenish items on time for buffets, restaurants, banquets, and special events; decorate and finish products when needed.
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and sanitation and comply with health, safety, and food-handling regulations.
- Develop pastry and bakery techniques under the guidance of senior chefs.
Qualifications
- 0–2 years of experience in a pastry, bakery, or kitchen environment in a hotel, restaurant, bakery shop, or catering operation.
- A Culinary Arts, Pastry & Bakery, or related certificate or diploma is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of baking methods, pastry production, dessert preparation, and kitchen operations.
- Familiarity with bakery equipment, ingredients, and food safety standards; basic HACCP and food hygiene knowledge is preferred.
- Passion for pastry, bakery, and desserts; willingness to learn and develop; ability to work effectively in a fast-paced team.
- International hotel brand or high-volume pastry experience is an advantage.
