The role works at a kitchen station assigned by the Sous Chef or Chef de Partie and prepares food for guests or staff.
Food preparation and cooking
- Prepare ingredients by portioning, chopping, washing, peeling, weighing, measuring, and storing food.
- Prepare menu items according to recipes, yield guides, specifications, and quality standards.
- Cook meats, vegetables, soups, breakfast dishes, and other items using a range of cooking methods.
- Use kitchen equipment including braising pans, ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.
- Set up the station with par stocks, check supplies and prep lists, and prepare items on time.
- Serve food in proper portions and on the correct serving vessels.
Kitchen operations and standards
- Replenish service lines and prepare the workstation for the next shift.
- Store products in the correct location and check appliance and food temperatures.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation; wash and disinfect kitchen areas, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain hotel standards for portion size and food quality while minimizing waste and supporting food-cost controls.
- Report assistance needs and incidents to the Sous Chef and review follow-up actions with the Head Cook.
- Assist with on-the-job training for new cooks and support other kitchen team members as needed.
Role requirements
- General knowledge of cooking temperatures, soups and sauces, entrees, vegetable preparation, and à la carte cooking.
- Ability to use kitchen equipment and prepare food to recipes, specifications, and quality standards.
- Ability to maintain cleanliness and sanitation in the assigned work area.
Compensation
- Pay is AED 3,500 per month.
