Support the kitchen team with ingredient preparation, cooking, and maintaining a clean, organized kitchen.
Work under senior chefs’ guidance while learning techniques and gaining experience in kitchen operations.
Kitchen duties
- Prepare ingredients, stocks, sauces, garnishes, and basic items to chef specifications.
- Cook dishes under supervision and assist with cooking-line preparation to meet quality, temperature, and presentation standards.
- Follow food safety and hygiene procedures and maintain HACCP controls.
- Keep kitchen areas clean, organized, and stocked; clean tools, utensils, and equipment after use.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff and follow senior chefs’ direction and feedback.
Experience and qualifications
- Hospitality qualification and Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
- One year in a similar position in a five-star hotel.
- Basic culinary knowledge or qualification, such as culinary school.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, follow instructions precisely, and handle kitchen tools and equipment safely.
- Strong attention to detail, communication, teamwork, and passion for food and cooking.
- Good product knowledge, ability to produce checklists, and HACCP control knowledge.
- Microsoft Windows application literacy is an asset.
