Maintains, troubleshoots, repairs, and performs preventive maintenance on coffee machines and café beverage, bar, and kitchen equipment.
Supports safe, efficient equipment operation, reduces downtime, coordinates external repairs, and maintains maintenance records.
Coffee equipment
- Service, clean, and calibrate espresso and other coffee machines; troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and water-pressure issues.
- Inspect machine components and maintain grinders, including burrs and grind consistency; replace worn seals, gaskets, filters, and consumables.
- Monitor brewing temperature, pressure, extraction, and steam performance; coordinate descaling and water filtration maintenance.
Ice, nitro, and beverage machines
- Inspect and maintain ice makers; troubleshoot water, drainage, refrigeration, production, and temperature issues and monitor ice quality.
- Maintain nitro dispensing systems; check gas supply, regulators, pressure, tubing, fittings, taps, and connections, and clean beverage lines.
- Service blenders and slush machines; troubleshoot motors, controls, freezing, cooling, and dispensing, and replace worn components.
Bar and kitchen equipment
- Maintain beverage dispensers, water boilers, filtration and soda systems; inspect electrical connections, heating elements, pumps, valves, hoses, and fittings.
- Inspect and service café kitchen equipment, including ovens, microwaves, toasters, sandwich presses, grills, refrigerators, and freezers.
- Troubleshoot heating, cooling, electrical, mechanical, and temperature-control faults; coordinate specialist servicing when required.
Preventive maintenance
- Develop and follow preventive maintenance schedules and conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic inspections.
- Identify potential failures, track equipment condition and service dates, and record outstanding faults and required parts.
Requirements and safety
- The technician is expected to maintain a broad range of café equipment and diagnose operational faults.
- Follow manufacturer guidance and food safety requirements for equipment cleaning and sanitization.
- Coordinate certified specialist servicing for gas-powered equipment, refrigeration systems, or other work requiring certified technicians.
- Handle pressurized gas cylinders safely.
