Role Summary
Responsible for identifying, developing and securing new business opportunities, within the crude oil, products and gas sectors.
This role involves strategic planning, relationship building, market analysis, and negotiation to expand the company's presence and revenue in.
The Business Development Manager will work closely with the Business Unit leader to align business development initiatives with the company's overall goals and objectives.
Responsibilities
- **Leadership and Direction:**
- Identify and communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan of the business unit within the business area or department; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these tenets and do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
- **Business Development:**
- Participate in formulating the strategy and identifying, evaluating, and structuring key transactions to ensure continued financial health and maximum value creation through the entire product life cycle.
- Transactions may involve alliances, collaborations, mergers and acquisitions, in- and out-licensing initiatives, and other activities.
- **Business Planning:**
- Develop and propose annual business plans for a given area or department, ensuring alignment with strategy.
- Recommend financial and headcount budgets; propose business targets, for example, revenues or other key performance indicators (KPIs); and schedule key activities/projects, ensuring integration with other elements of the organization.
- **Needs Assessment:**
- Uncover emerging issues or needs, identifying potential causes, barriers, and key stakeholders, as well as related issues.
- **Strategic Partnering:**
- Manage a significant segment of strategic partnering, ensuring robust partner identification, relationship building, and partnership agreement negotiation.
- **Performance Management:**
- Manage and report on performance within the department or area of responsibility; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.
- **Stakeholder Engagement:**
- Develop stakeholder engagement by identifying stakeholders; by finding out their needs, issues, and concerns; and by reacting to these needs, issues, and concerns to support the communication of business information and decisions.
- **Market Access:**
- Build and optimize significant relationships and interactions with external and internal stakeholders, including key decision makers, regulators, public organizations, governmental institutions, insurance companies, providers, professional communities, and customer/client/patient groups.
- Translate strategy and plans into expanded value creation and access opportunities for the company’s products and portfolio.
Experience
- Over 10 years to 15 years experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives within medium to long time frames.
Educational Qualification
- Master's Degree or Equivalent Level
