Application Support Engineer

Role overview

Primary responsibilities

• Use ITIL change, incident, and problem processes; lead major incident calls and drive root-cause analysis.
• Troubleshoot production systems across on-premises and cloud services; review application designs and recommend optimizations.
• Contribute to monthly service reviews and KPI discussions; participate in disaster-recovery and loss-of-region events and collect evidence.
• Partner across teams to resolve incidents and advise development; support audits with documentation and evidence.
• Plan certificate creation and renewals; create and monitor dashboards; resolve critical alerts and production defects.
• Update runbooks and knowledge articles, identify monitoring automation, and implement application deployments and vendor upgrades.
• Translate project requirements into technical specifications and incorporate risk and control processes into daily work.

Qualifications

• Minimum four years of related experience.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
• Strong problem-solving ability and creative thinking.

Technical environment

• Distributed and mainframe application support; Unix, Linux, Windows, SQL/PLSQL, DB2, Oracle, and Snowflake.
• Containers and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes, and OpenShift; monitoring tools include Splunk, DynaTrace, Grafana, Selenium, and HiPam.
• Cloud technologies include AWS services, Azure, OpenShift, RDS Aurora, and Postgres; schedulers include mainframe scheduler and AutoSys.
• Middleware includes Tomcat, WebSphere, WebLogic, and JBoss; messaging includes IBM MQ, Oracle AQ, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ, and Kafka.
• Scripting languages include Bash, Python, Ruby, Shell, Perl, and JavaScript; ETL tools include Informatica Datahub/IDQ and Talend.

Workplace

• Flexible hybrid arrangement: three days onsite and two days remote; onsite days include Tuesday, Wednesday, and a third day set by the team or employee.
