Catastrophe Modelling Graduate Programme

2027 graduate programme in Aon Reinsurance catastrophe modelling, with start dates of 8 March 2027 or 1 September 2027.

The team uses commercial catastrophe models and Aon analytical tools to help insurers and reinsurers understand natural and human-made risks, including earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, wildfires, and cyber.

Graduates learn to prepare and analyse data, use risk quantification tools, interpret model outputs, and communicate insights to colleagues and clients.

Role responsibilities

  • Prepare, interpret, and quality-check client exposure, insurance, and claims data; investigate anomalies and ensure analysis is accurate and traceable.
  • Run catastrophe models to quantify the likelihood and potential impact of natural, cyber, and other human-made events.
  • Analyse model outputs, test scenarios, and translate results into clear client-focused insights.
  • Test how data quality, assumptions, portfolio changes, and input variables affect results, and identify when expert review is needed.
  • Evaluate vendor, internally developed, and AI-supported outputs, considering methods, strengths, limitations, and client relevance.
  • Monitor major catastrophe events and provide timely information about potential impacts.
  • Research emerging risks, climate change, and developments in natural and cyber catastrophe risk.
  • Develop and maintain datasets, analytical tools, models, and client solutions; future opportunities may include SQL, Python, data pipelines, and advanced analytics.
  • Use tools such as Copilot and analytics platforms carefully, refining prompts and checking that outputs are reliable and appropriate.
  • Coordinate analytical tasks, seek and apply feedback, and prepare presentations for technical and non-technical collaborators.
  • Work with colleagues, academic institutions, and industry partners to test ideas and develop approaches.

Graduate development and qualifications

  • The role is part of Aon's 2027 Graduate Programme.
  • Graduates join the Launch Programme and progressively build technical and professional capabilities with support.
  • The programme includes business learning, centralised learning, and professional qualifications.
  • Graduates are expected to complete Go Further Apprenticeship programmes and receive support toward a Level 4 Diploma in Insurance; the source description ends before the qualification name is complete.
  • SQL, Python, advanced analytics, and other capabilities are developed through experience and are not all expected on joining.
  • Use critical judgement with AI-enabled tools and review machine-generated outputs.

Programme dates

Listed start dates are 8 March 2027 and 1 September 2027.

The stated application closing date is 7 December 2026; the employer says it may close earlier.
